Bord na Móna is bringing its Heartland exhibition to Laois. Celebrating the company’s 75 years, from the foundation of the Turf Development Board in 1934 to the present day, Heartland will be launched in The Parish Centre, St Peter and Paul’s Church Portlaoise on Monday 16th August and it will run until Wednesday 1st September 2010.

The Heartland exhibition displays artefacts, photos, videos and employee histories reflecting Bord na Móna’s technical, social and economic development since 1934 and its plans for a sustainable future. Old pictures, personal memories and interactive videos bring visitors back in time to the original days of the Turf Development Board in 1934, its seamless transition to Bord na Móna a short time later and also give an insight into the future direction of the company in the 21st century, focused on becoming Ireland’s largest integrated and innovative utility service providers of clean air, clean water and clean energy.

Members of the public can enjoy Heartland, free of charge at The Parish Centre, St Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise. Heartland will run in The Parish Centre, from Monday 16th August to Wednesday 1st September 2010 at the following times:
